Old growth recycled Douglas fir edge grain wood coaster set of (4)
These simple elegant coasters have a minimalist designed which emphasize the natural beauty and strength of edge grain first growth Douglas fir.
This species of fir indigenous to British Columbia, was the number one choice among boat builders since B.C was first settled by the British.
Due to its natural strength and pliability many boats big and small were constructed using fir lumber.
These coasters will be of limited supply due to the rarity of first growth lumber. This lumber was salvaged from the left over off cuts of planks that were installed on some of the last few still working commercial wooden fishing boats of British Columbia Canada.
We finish our wood coasters by hand sanding the surfaces and edges and applying a matte clear coat to prevent staining and warping.
